First time at Gunnison

Hi everyone, today was my first time at Gunnison (clothing optional beach altogether) and I had a great time! It really is liberating and I must say that I thought I'd have a bit more apprehension taking it all off, but once I found my spot, it wasn't so bad. Just wish it wasn't so windy or foggy, but I still had fun nonetheless!

another 1st timer
little shy, but all this sounds really exciting! kinda worried about predators lurking about-but as long as im not the only one relaxing, hey this sounds too cool. i would like to second (third/whatever) the idea of identifiers, it would be nice to acknowledge and be acknowledged as a group? my friend and his wife suggested gb to me, i cant wait. my wife is open to all good times, so see ya on da beach! btw, does anyone actually surf, or is it too painful if you wipe out...dw
No surfing
When the lifeguards are on duty , no flotation of any kind is allowed. I don't know if that is enforced in the off season by the rangers, I don't believe so, but not sure.

My wife and I were also there on thursday except we braved the elements at 9.30. It was a little bone chilling but once the sun peak out it was not too bad. The suggestion that we should have sticker or flag to I.d fellow websters is a great idea. Put a face to the name.
well welcome to gunnerson. My
well welcome to gunnerson. My husband and I were there today too. You will enjoy it there. The place just makes You feel free.
Thursday March 22nd
I was there also, arrived by noon and left around 3pm. The fog and cool air made the experience a bit different than my other visits to Gunny.
Here's a question/thouhgt: How do all us 'on line' Gunny people introduce ourselves while on the beach? Other than asking what if the person you are speaking to "if they are regulars on Gunny's web page" I don't see any other way of learning who is who. Any suggestions? Perhaps have a Gunny web day? Or wear/place some type of indicator i.e. ribbon, flag, etc.
Identifying each other
I have had the same thought, it could be awkwarde to just walk up to someone and ask if they are a member of the group. The flag idea sounds like a good one.
banjo player
If you see someone with a 5-string banjo, it's me. Say hello. Bring a guitar. Hell, bring an accordion and a tuba!
Tuba Diving
Yes, bring the guitar and the banjo, but for the love of Jimmy Buffett... leave the tuba home!
(For any tuba players that may have been offended by this statement... I don't know what to tell ya!)
Life is filled with risks and you have to choose the ones you’re willing to take in exchange for the thrill of living
Identification
Llifeguard Dave has created bumper stickers and last season we kind of agreed that individuals could post a small (8.5" x 11") sign that says "GBNJ.US" as an identifier. You could ink up a hand towel and safety pin it to a windscreen or the back of your chair or affix to your cooler, etc.
I proposed that Dave start a "Beach Gear" section where everybody lists what they will typically have with them (what color blanket, umbrella, windscreen, flag (if you fly one), bring a soccerball or carry a sketch pad, etc). Also included would be where you set up (near the snack stand, volleyball nets, behind the 2nd lifeguard stand, etc) if you have a standard location.
Of course you can also request to exchange cell phone # (through private messages only).

Sign
I printed out an 8x10 photo that I believe Dave made up with GBNJ.US over a nice beach shot, not sure where it is now on the site, and I hang it on the back of my chair. I also made a little image(in the 2010 image gallery) that could serve the same purpose. Anyone with real artistic talents feel free to improve on it. And of course my hat and beard are a bit of a standout too.
Here's your sign
GBNJ.US Sign
Thanks. Now we all need to add our screen names to this sign and appropriately place it on our beach belongings for all to see..

Can someone please provide the link to Dave's sign or bumper sticker?
BTW - I travel light. What doesn't fit into my backpack does not get to the beach, so the sign has to be visible attached to my backpack or on my beach blanket.
Thanks
