Newbie question

Hi! I'm a fairly new nudist/naturist who has enjoyed the sun in the privacy of my very private backyard and can't wait to take it to the next step.  A coworker (who is not shy about being a naturist) mentioned in passing the other week that he and his wife go to Sandy Hook, NJ, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about this place. I need to try my first trip NOW!!!  I can't wait!!

My only concern is this... NO ONE knows that I'm into this and I'm scared to death that I'm going to bump into my coworker and his wife. Have any of you bumped into a friend/acquaintance? How did you handle it? Were you able to show your face around the office again? It's not going to stop me from going, but just curious how others have handled the "Oh, hi! What are you doing here?" and the afterwards just in case.

For what it's worth, he's not that close of a friend that I can tell him I want to go with him next time he goes. I'd rather go by myself, at least initially until I get more comfortable in my own skin (no pun intended).

Thanks for your input!!

Just about all of our friends

Just about all of our friends and family and many of our coworkers know that we go to Gunnison. We don't keep it a secret from anyone. I work in a VERY big NJ company and because of the nature of my job I meet a lot of people face to face in the course of a day. Only once did I see a coworker there. We pretty much acted the same way we would if we met at the mall. I have no idea what her situation is so I never told anyone that I saw her there. But because I am open about it, it doesn't matter to me if she told anyone.

I myself

While I myself have never met friends, co-workers, etc. at Gunnison Beach, my co-workers & friends know of my visits every season to Gunny.  They seem to get a good Laughing out loud laugh out of it.  I guess if such a thing were to happen to me I'd probably keep it casual.  I probably would'nt be shocked Shock by meeting someone I knew.  O.K., a little surprised.   Just cross that bridge when you come to it.  Good Luck.

Hi from a late-bloomer nudist.  The 1 thing I hateFrown about spending the day @ Gunny is doing so by my lonesome.&nbsp

That's a serious concern

I wish I knew what to say about this. It's never happened to me although I've seen some people who, at first, were people I thought I knew well. They all turned out to be false alarms--thankfully--but that doesn't mean I didn't jump five feet. My opinion is to wear a hat and sunglasses. I know that sounds obvious and probably ridiculous, but it should help. I'd also get a windscreen. With a windscreen you'll have a little privacy if you need it.

Welcome!You and they should

Welcome!

You and they should handle it just like any other situation with clothes on. We are all there for the same reason.  Big smile

I agree with Playa Lover,

I agree with Playa Lover, you're both there for the same reason. After going to Gunnison on Sunday I saw on Facebook that a friend of a friend was there too. Would have loved to run into her.
